About me

My name is Rocío and since October 2019, I am a PhD candidate in the BabyBRAIN group from the BRC. In my project I am mainly interested in investigating infants’ and young children’s brainwaves: what is their role in development? What are patterns of brain activity that signal us that a child is processing novel information and is about to learn? And can we tweak this activity to improve their cognitive abilities?

To answer these questions, I use electroencephalography (EEG) as a method. Part of my research is also to optimize the analysis of this kind of brain data. That is, making it a possibility that we can read and evaluate such data at the exact same moment that the child is performing one of our tasks. This way we can directly adapt the task according to what we learn from their brain activity.
